What is a notarized translation of documents?
Notarized translation is a translation of public documents with further notarization of the translation. Such translation can also be called: translation signed and stamped by notary, translation with notarization.
Notarized translation is performed in two stages:
1. A qualified translator with diploma of specialized education performs translation of a public document.
2. This translator, in presence of a notary, signs the translation, giving his/her signature in witness of compliance of the translation with the original document. The notary verifies the translator’s identity and qualification according to the diploma, and certifies true his/her signature and qualification, and thereafter legalizes the translation under the appropriate procedure.
Thus, a customer receives a specifically executed translation with a certain legal effect.
What situations require a notarized translation of documents?
A notarized translation of documents is required in cases when translation of the document is intended to be used in future as a public document – for submission to state establishments, representative offices of foreign countries and other official institutions, for example:
1. Translation of certificates of birth, marriage, change of name, change of last name, change of father’s name, acknowledgement of paternity, certificate of death.
2. Translation of letters of verification of marriage, registration, birth, family status, from Ministry for Internal Affairs, place of residence, police clearance certificates.
3. Translation of judicial documents: indictment, judgments and decrees of court, petitions and appeals.
4. Translation of documents of education: certificates of education and transcripts thereto, diplomas and transcripts thereto, notices of attendance of a secondary general school or higher educational establishment, character references from a place of study, student’s personal files, archive transcripts from higher educational establishments.
5. Translation of medical documents: medical certificates, sickness certificates, vaccination certificates.
Translation of documents from passport services: national and foreign passport, residence permit.
Please, note, in many cases, you may need not a notarized translation, but consular legalization (for states participating in the Hague Convention – apostille service). It depends only on requirements of that establishment, where documents are intended to be submitted, that is why, before you order a service, please, specify a required form of documents to be submitted.
